Thailand’s most beautiful beach destinations
There’s no secret that Thailand has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, but with so many to choose from, it can be quite time consuming to find the right ones. Fun fact: Did you know that Koh means Island? So when you hear names like i.e Koh Samui and Koh Chang, it means that it is not only a beach, but an island. In this case Samui Island and Chang Island.
Tachai Island (Koh Tachai)
Known as the Maldives of Thailand, Tachai has the most beautiful beach in all of Thailand. It is known to be one of the best diving and snorkelling sites in Thailand. The island is home to leopard sharks, nurse sharks and eagle rays. The Hawksbill turtle and whale sharks are also regular visitors of these waters. And last but not least the most famous inhabitant on the island, the peculiar chicken crabs. With white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, it’s a destination you don’t want to miss! The only way to visit the island is on daily snorkel tours organized by local operators. Do keep in mind that the island might be closed due to the ecological damage caused by mass tourism. Information is easily available online, so make sure you check it before you plan your trip.
Similan Island (Koh Similan)
Located in the Andaman Sea in Phang-nga, Similan Island (Koh Similan) is one of the 11 islands of the Similan Archipelago. Its pristine waters makes it the perfect travel destination for tourists that loves to dive and explore wildlife. Be prepared to spot sharks, barracudas, trigger fish and various Nemo fishes.
Due to the fragile and unique Eco systems, the government of Thailand keeps the island closed during Monsoon season which starts around May and ends in October. There are no accommodation on the island and camping is prohibited so the only way to visit is by daily tours.
A popular destination for people all over the world, Railay beach in Krabi is one of our top picks. Relax in a jungle vibe at a great selection of budget to luxury resorts. Be prepared for long beach walks, limestone cliffs and to meet one of Thailand’s most welcoming people. Railay is an easy place to stay for longer periods as there are plenty of activities and places to eat scattered across the area. It is also one of the most famous rock climbing destinations in Thailand. Should you wish to visit other islands and beaches in the south, you can book tours directly from Railay beach or jump on a plane from Krabi airport.
Koh Kradan (Trang)
If you are looking for the ultimate experience, we’re talking a private island pretty much all for yourself; Koh Kradan is the answer. White sandy beaches and blue waters, it’s the most dreamy beach of them all. Rent a bungalow right on the beach staring directly into the ocean, or go five star and stay at The Sevenseas resort. Seeing it’s still a hidden gem, you should expect to eat local cuisine. It is also worth mentioning that Koh Kradan has one of the most stunning sunsets in Thailand. Koh Lipe is located all the way south on the Thai/Malaysian border. Sandy beaches, turquoise waters and easy to reach coral reefs. Relaxing yoga retreats, perfect snorkeling scenery and endless choices to eat, shop and have massages. Lipe is not the easiest island to get to, but is sure worth the effort. Planning your accommodation in Lipe is fun, as there are numbers of places to choose from with 3 beaches around the island. The nightlife is vibrant and you can find many cool bars on Lipe!
